About Us

Family Owned & Operated

Since our inception, Gallegos has been a family owned and operated business, exemplifying dedication, perseverance, leadership and expertise in commercial and residential construction services. With the best assembled group of professionals in our field, we credit our longevity to a team effort, which will be apparent throughout each phase of your project.

Although Gerald passed away in 2010, the company has strong leadership in Suzanne Gallegos who is Chairman of the Board and Gary Woodworth who has been with the company for almost 25 years. Gary joined Gallegos in the late ’80s and has led both the marble/granite and plaster/stucco divisions before becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2008. This spirit of giving was championed by Gerald for 40 years. He was born in Southern Colorado and attended Eagle County public schools, graduating from Battle Mountain High School, and then continued his education at Mesa State College in Grand Junction. Gerald was especially driven to helping youth get ahead and providing educational opportunities. He was involved in many organizations and was a devoted member of the boards of El Pomar, the Vail Valley Foundation, The Youth Foundation, the Minturn Community Fund and Roundup River Ranch.

Gerald was a founding member of The Youth Foundation, an educational organization dedicated to serving youth in need in Eagle and Lake Counties. This organization was founded in 1997 and has served thousands of economically disadvantaged children. Susie Davis, Executive Director of The Youth Foundation, summed up the way Gerald touched lives of everyone. He was more than a philanthropist, he genuinely cared about the best interests of people, and went out of his way to effect change.

"Everyone who knew Gerald has a story of his generosity. Gerald’s life was full of giving. He gave many people a chance – a chance at success, a chance for hope. Gerald gave with heart . . . especially when it came to children. There are so many stories to tell of Gerald helping children... READ MORE

Since 1981, the Vail Valley Foundation has been dedicated to enhancing the community through athletics, culture and education. The Foundation is responsible for providing Eagle County residents and guests with Vail International Dance Festival, American Ski Classic, Birds of Prey World Cup Ski Race, Vilar Performing Arts Center and multiple free concert series throughout the year. The non-profit has also hosted 1989 and 1999 World Alpine Ski Championships, won the bid for 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships and the 1994 and 2001 World Mountain Bike Championships. VVF also supports literacy programs and provides higher education scholarships. Through annual grants, the Foundation also supports other non-profits in the valley allowing it to have an even greater impact throughout the community.

"Over the years, Gerald Gallegos made a magnificent and meaningful difference in the Vail Valley community. The Vail Valley Foundation was most fortunate to be one of the many nonprofit organizations that Gerald was engaged with on both a personal and professional basis... READ MORE

Gerald who grew up in Minturn, also worked with the Minturn Community Fund, which is dedicated to enriching and preserving Minturn’s authentic community. Through the organization’s work, Minturn will be a healthy, vibrant and authentic community that meets the challenge of change while preserving its rich history and small town character.

Gerald joined the Board of Directors for Roundup River Ranch, which is committed to fulfilling Paul Newman’s dream of opening camps for children with serious illnesses. The camp is located just north of Dotsero and is expected to open in the summer of 2011. Gallegos supplied the masonry for the camp’s main building, as well as pouring concrete foundations.

The El Pomar Foundation, founded in 1937, is one of the largest and oldest private foundations in the Rocky Mountain West. El Pomar contributes over $25 million annually through grants and community stewardship programs to help support Colorado nonprofit organizations involved in health, human services, education, arts and humanities, and civic and community initiatives.

It is with the passion that Gerald contributed that will guide the way of giving back, in the future at Gallegos. The generosity that he possessed inspires each of us to continue to honor his legacy in our communities.
