88 STEELE, CHERRY CREEK NORTH, DENVER, COLORADO

Description

THE ASK

Haselden Construction contracted with us to provide the stone masonry, brick masonry, stucco, concrete masonry units (CMU), cast stone podium cladding, brick veneer and stucco at the apartment level, and scaffolding for all trades.

THE DETAILS

88 Steele in Cherry Creek North offers unimpeded views of the mountains to the west of Denver. Site constraints included the streets (the building was built on a zero-lot line property, meaning the building spans from property line to property line) on the north and west elevations and a high voltage power line to the east. The owner of an existing building on the south would not allow construction workers on his property. It was a very tight infill site.

We worked closely with the local utilities company to get their high voltage lines covered. This ensured our workers would be safe and there was no fear of the electricity arcing to our scaffold. We laid masonry over the existing structure from the inside of the building; this is called overhand work in Bricklayer’s parlance.
